NËSTRÄ, born Eliyas Abdulkadir to East African immigrants in Minnesota, is an American artist based in Seattle. The moniker NËSTRÄ derives from the Spartan Queen Clytemnestra of Greek legend – chosen to embody the duality of masculine and feminine energies – while the umlauts above the E and A represent his initials. NËSTRÄ fell in love with music in 5th grade drumline, and began freestyling with his friends at lunch. After participating in The Residency in 2017, NËSTRÄ released his breakout single 11:11, produced by Seattle heavyweights Sango and Está. of Soulection. In 2018 he made the semifinals of MoPop’s SoundOff! Competition. Over the next three years, NËSTRÄ released 3 projects: “QUALITY” explored an electronic sound, “texture.” embraced acoustic tones, and “JIGGY” combined RnB, Rap and Pop Influences into one cohesive vision. At the age of 22, NËSTRÄ has already performed at Seattle’s two most iconic music festivals, Capitol Hill Block Party and Bumbershoot. He also walked in New York Fashion Week 2021 with the MLS and Adidas hosting. Through his lyrics, music, and dance, NËSTRÄ tells his story, reflecting on his life as a first-generation immigrant of East African heritage, as well as dealing with an absentee father. NËSTRÄ plays with a variety of sounds and themes, while never forgetting his roots. We are taken on a trip through struggle, love, anger, happiness, and spirituality. His music is organic, enigmatic and always directly from the heart.

Music. Most love it, few understand it. And even fewer speak it. Savvy Rae is a lyricist. Her words can pick apart a scene and tell a story from an image. She also creates images. Images in the minds of any that stop to listen. Any that care to hear. She takes her pain, her joy, her life, and throws it on a life’s canvas unapologetically, for all to see. Seeing her on stage is not a performance, it’s an experience. Her dream is not to be a celebrity. Her dream is to have the perspectives of the people who witness her, changed; seeing the world with new, innocently accepting, more inclusive vision. Because nothing in this world is one sided, or one dimensional. Especially not music.

Music moves us. Blood bonds us. We all have it in us to create community and save lives. The facts below dispel the myths.
Most people who are in good health, at least 18 years old, and weigh at least 110lbs can donate.
Live that teenage dream: you can donate in WA at 16 with a parent’s permission. And in Oregon, no permission form needed.
Don’t worry—low iron is usually temporary, and you’ll likely be able to donate again soon. On an average day, about one-in-ten donors is deferred because of a low iron level. Learn more.
You can’t manufacture talent and you can’t manufacture blood: there’s no substitute.
This is #1 on the “Why People Don’t Donate” charts. It takes less than 10 minutes for the actual donation: about the length of 3 great songs.
There’s a reason why nobody writes songs about blood donation. Love hurts. Blood donation is barely a pinch.
Iron is the heavy metal of blood donation. As long as you get enough iron in your vegan/vegetarian diet, you can donate. So veg out and rock on!
Cannabis users can donate—but like waiting for the beat to drop, you need to save it for after your appointment.
It takes just four chords to write a hit song and only one hour to give blood. The actual donation takes less than 10 minutes. Simple. Beautiful.
Bet. One out of every four Americans will require a blood transfusion in their lifetime. Without your blood donation, a quartet could become a trio.
You can donate every 56 days. Get into a rhythm.
Like music genres, every blood type is unique. Each is important for a healthy supply. We’ll tell you your blood type when you donate.
We’re jealous! Most popular travel destinations won’t impact your ability to give blood, and our clinical specialists can set the record straight.
If your diabetes is under control, on or off medication, you can donate if you meet all other eligibility guidelines.
Come donate. The FDA’s policy has finally changed and that’s music to our ears.
Tattoos have become mainstream, and most won’t impact your bloodstream. If your body art was done in a licensed shop locally or in one of 40 other approved states, there’s no wait to donate. For everything else, it’s three months.
If you can’t give blood for local patients, you can probably donate for research. It’s like buying a record instead of seeing a live show: your contribution could help over and over again.
Musician Marshall Hugh, lead singer of the Marshall Law Band, gives us a tour of what it’s like to donate blood at Bloodworks NW.
Each performance explores the critical need for blood, addresses cultural and fear-based hesitancies, and provides a tangible way for students to act on their newfound awareness.
